As many of my readers know I generally type with passion as these empty houses directly affect the area I live and work in . And as a matter of interest every single person I talk to think leaving these houses empty in a housing crisis this its absolute madness.

• NT Housing Shortage march

Well that would be a no so instead of ranting lets look at the nt news I have a full cover copy of their front page as part of this post and they have covered this story two days in a row. Not to mention the coverage over the past year. Lets look what’s happening in the NT that is driving this ridiculous housing situation.

What’s Causing The NT housing Shortage

1. Impex starting construction
2. Defence moving back a long lost regiment (that they moved away 2 years ago)
3. Marines coming to Darwin
4. Associated construction for above

We have contacted many politicians about this and the madness continues the defence department has just shut up shop and gone to ground. So we need to start the campaign again WE NEED THOSE HOUSES RELEASED to the people of Darwin or put defence back in them this is a maddening situation that is laughable if it wasn’t so serious.

Darwin now has a rental shortage that is laughable tenants are bidding for properties I wonder what many of these new people would think if they knew about these 300 empty.

Now I know I’m sounding like a broken record but lets say it again SAVE those Houses and help alleviate the NT housing shortage

I have recently received by email a copy of the chief ministers plan to help with the housing shortage in Darwin please find a copy word for word below.  Now the amazing thing was this plan was created to help with Darwins housing shortage. I mean there’s nothing I can do to explain my amazement and shock at the absolute disdain these politicians are  showing towards these houses on the suburb of eaton that the government and the defence department are going to bulldoze.

Greater Darwin Plan

This month I was pleased to announce the release of my Government’s Greater Darwin Plan – a strategic framework for the sustainable development of our region. (Um what about empty houses that are already built)

The Greater Darwin Region is expected to grow by up to 70 000 extra people over the next 15 years. ( Maybe , Maybe not , but I bet the would rather nice houses on big blocks)

Major projects such as the Marine Supply Base and Ichthys LNG will create thousands of new jobs, and Darwin is well placed to become Australia’s oil and gas capital. The Territory is forecast to have the second highest economic growth in the nation over the next five years. (we have covered this at the moment defence and lng workers are competeng in a tight rental market , did I mention there are about 300 propertys defence are looking for , oh yes they have empty ones ready for people about to be bulldozed)

The Greater Darwin Plan has been strategically formulated to support residential and industrial growth, while maintaining the unique character of our communities. ( nothing as unique as a buldozer knocking down 400 houses)

The Plan is on exhibition for public comment and is available online at www.growingnt.nt.gov.au.

To summarize up The chief ministers plan he wants to line the highways with units and add granny flats to yards throughout Darwin while he watches and waits for 400 perfectly houses to be destroyed yep this just goes to show Paul Henderson and Warren Snowden just don’t give a crap. Yes yes it sound that we are political , but in fact we don’t really care whose in or out we hate waist and at the moment the people in power are quiet happy to waist 400 perfectly good houses please contact us for more information.

As you can see by the title of this post the good news is the gas plant is coming the government expects an influx of thousands of workers. But this wont affect the housing shortage because they are building a special compound.

Yes I am pretty sure our politicians especially the federal ones should be drug tested it is absolute madness that they think it is still ok to bulldoze 400 houses when they expect an influx of worker amongst a chronic housing shortage.

I am happy to tell you that I know of investors that will take even the shitiest house in Eaton for 400 000 but the government wants it for strategic purposes lets look at this. The original strategic purpose was the new fighter plane is too noisy well that is no longer, that contract is now over budget and time and the government is looking at replacing the jsf (joint strike fighter)with the super hornet.

I don’t care what anybody says this is just crazy these blokes, we’ll list them bellow are working hard at sending us broke and crazy

All four of the above are of the firm opinion writing off billions of dollars and bulldozing 400 houses in a housing crisis and a financial crisis is just plain brilliant financial thinking. I think they are going to claim the write off against tax.

Yes we are all suffering in these BOOM times that Julia keeps telling us are here but imagine suffering while you watch 200 houses slowly rot away (200 have people still) from having no maintenance or TLC , I am actually thinking they are betting how long it takes the remainder of the small businesses to GIVE up.

The reason there are still 200 with people is because there is no other housing for them , yes can you believe this.

Well Julia (I Don’t Think So) I am holding on to see if we can last longer than your money waisting government who in their right mind bulldozes 400 houses in a housing crisis, I don’t care where you are in Australia this is just stupididty well done you all.

Well readers I have today descided to stay more to the point blasting politicians and defense bureaucracy is simply counter productive if they do not think bulldozing 400 houses is not a waste then Im not really sure yelling at them will change their minds. So I thought you would be better informed if I list houses that are for sale in Darwin and show you one of the houses they are going to bulldoze. So here goes.

This is not a lie they are going to bulldoze these houses contact your local member and voice your concern the more the merrier.

Today I am writing more to vent then anything as you know I regularly update this blog when some madness presents itself, for instance I hear that the defence department is just about to bulldoze some accommodation units in Palmerston at robertson barracks they are about 20 years old. So they build things to bulldoze them after 20 years. Really if you look at it this way there is no hope for houses that are 30-40 years old. Imagine if these people were darwin city council they would be bulldozing the mall again.

Politician pay rises Australia

Now this is really not in the scope of this website but I had to write about it , many of the Australian population is doing it hard, real hard and recently they have just been given a pay rise. I don’t know about you but for fun you should listen to question time. Here you will see no value for your money, but at least they sit in parliment  125 days a year. The NT politicians including the chief minister , who is the Bain of our exsistance, I say this because he is the one person in the Northern territory that can provide some power behind our campaign but he is silent.

Well the NT politician wages will now be indexed because they are tied to federal salaries , that means the chief minister ( he who does not care) will be getting close to the prime ministers wages and the NT politicians only sit in parliament 33 days a year.

Whats Upsetting About These Pay Rises

What is upsetting about this is because they just do not care how hard the rest of us are doing , for instance at the raaf base suburb of eaton there are 400 houses that can be used but these people on 300- 500 thousand a year are quiet happy to see them bulldozed and have people live in soon to be built houses. These people who all get paid less then the lowest paid politician have no choice.

Well done Julia and team and thanks for the Great Christmas Present $7 billion in cuts to fund your pay rises and still the bulldozers come.

Well readers and concerned citizens we have had quiet a few people leave comments here about some of our suggestions on wanting to save the houses and the suburb.  This is something different that I thought is important for all our readers to understand.

The Government and defence say that they will not be bulldozing those houses they will be moving them for the use of people in Darwin and surrounds. This is all good except one thing.

The Government Has Already Tried This

Yes they have already moved a whole bunch of houses from defence basses in Darwin and every single one of these houses is now rotting on land they cannot be used because of government rules. These people are absolutely amazing. They have paid for the houses to be moved of the base and sold or given to the public , then their own regulations say these houses cannot be used.

The current houses while in situ are perfectly fine yes there are some in need of repair but the waist is just astonishing. Not only is the government going to bulldoze these houses they are going to destroy the infrastructure.

The Northern territory is about to have a massive need for accommodation for thousands of workers here we have 200 houses empty with more to come the defence department and the government are just laughing in our face.

Here is something that I find Interesting Just To Show The Waist

The government a couple of years ago leased for 500 thousand dollars land to some very well to do developers (this is public knowledge) then the government proceeded to lease back from these people the exact same land for 10s of millions of dollars.

I do not know about you but this is just taking the friendship to far even to the most ardent government supporter there must seem to be a bit of a theme here.

Throw Money Away

I have to stop typing now simply because I am gob smaked at what these elected officials and the defence department is doing with our money, It may be cheaper and better for Australia if the defence department installed an incinerator on the raaf base where the houses used to be  and burned truck loads of money . That way we will save on consultants and bureaucracy  , I think it will actually save money think of it. They can drive a semi to the reserve bank pick up 10 million dollars and drive it to raaf base and burn it. You can get rid of 3 layers of managers by simply bypassing them , after all they were simply going to waiste the money any way.

Yes as I write this post today you are thinking who this elusive Warren Snowden fellow is and what he has to do with this ridiculous waste of money. Well Warren Snowdon is one of two federal members for the Northern Territory . He is also the minister for Defence housing, the fact is he is based in The northern territory and is simply not doing anything for us.

For Instance the Cattle Industry Destruction, but we will not go into this only to say he is responsible for nearly every cattle property in the NT and really couldn’t give a peep. But in his defence he’s not the minister for cattle he’s the minister for defence Housing which brings us to this.

Warren Snowden has recently replied to a letter one of the concerned citizens sent him , which to summarize was all fluff , basically he doesn’t care and he hope we will now shut the XXXX up.

Well Warren we aren’t going to shut up we think that this is just a wasteful discission, bulldozing 400 houses or should I say 250 houses and building 130 units is simply a joke. Its quiet clear to us that you are not concerned with the tough trading conditions in the NT (those 400 houses used to have 400 families) let alone the massive housing shortage.

We should apologize to Warren because he may not be aware of the massive housing shortage in Darwin , because his electorate covers everywhere but Darwin, but he is now because many people have written to him and his boss Steve Smith.

Please Warren please reconsider bulldozing those 400 perfectly good houses that your department has let deteriate (because you were going to bulldoze Them).

Come On Warren

Well as I write this I know your thinking it has been a long time in writing well you are correct we have been waiting for something to happen and Natasha Griggs has tabled a partition in parliament to get those houses transferred to DHA. This could possibly be a good thing because at the moment those houses are only managed by DHA and the defence department own the land.

Its all a bit silly really they are one in the same but there is a difference and the silly thing is this difference could cost Darwin 400 houses and the Government hundreds of millions if the bulldozers go In.

Now at the moment there are currently 200 empty houses with power and water ready to go , the government , defence department is paying security to stop the squatters, complete madness. So please visit our face book page and join the fight

Even more madness

Early on in the campaign we found out that one of the reasons that they said they were bulldozing the houses was because of the new fighter jets, these planes were twice as noisy as any other planes out there the government has spent millions , perhaps billions of dollars changing bases and noise boundaries and I read the other day they may not get these fighters because they might not be built.

Is it just me or are the people in charge of the defence department and the defence minister taking a lend lets look at what’s happened so far.

1. Government goes getting joint fighters and says lots of noises let bulldoze 400 houses
2. Defence says its not noise we are bulldozing for another reason
3. Then they say oh where not bulldozing we are having a think about it
4. Then they decide we aren’t getting JSF

Oh MY god these blokes are taking a lend follow the madness as they destroy 400 houses some local businesses and the government bank balance.

As I write this today I pause for a thought most people are getting ready to celebrate their Christmas I know the politicians are, well its a sad fact that in Darwin today there are lots of people without homes it is now 1 week before Christmas. As it turns out the federal government has 150 perfectly good houses that can be used now. That is a roof over 150 families heads but they are simply oblivious to the peoples suffering. They Do Not care.

The people in charge of these houses are Warren Snowden , Steve Smith and Julia Gillard as well as a massive government bureaucracy and while they fuel the bulldozers and enjoy a lovely Christmas break people are suffering. Why in gods name would you leave those houses empty at the most desperate time of the year.

Type Of Bulldozer Required

For the bulldozing of this suburb they will need some pretty big equipment after all the child care centre is Just 4 years old and cost approximately 1 million dollars to build so that is incredibly strong , luckily they have some great explosives nearby for any stubborn infrastructure which can easily be accessed via the security gate.
